Women do amazing things every day. Countries from all over the world dedicate a day to celebrate women and all of their incredible achievements. Honor the women and girls in your life by taking part in some of these fun activities.
March 8 is dedicated every year to recognizing women all over the world, including all nationalities, ethnicities and cultures. We come together for International Women’s Day to celebrate the achievements of women and to rally for gender equality and women’s rights. In the U.S., the entire month of March is Women’s History Month, when we honor the amazing women who’ve made a difference.
Show the women and girls you know how much you appreciate them this International Women’s Day. Here are a few activities that you, your loved ones, classmates or colleagues can do together to commemorate the day.
What better way to celebrate than with a deliciously inspiring HERSHEY’S SHE Bar? You can also repurpose this Father’s Day superhero candy bar wrapper craft to recognize all the super awesome women who make a difference in your life.
Gift your gratitude in the sweetest way possible by whipping up something yummy! You can make some delicious Sweetheart Chocolate Cupcakes to give out to the women and girls you know, or make this unique Chocolate Cherry Upside-Down Cake alongside them as a great activity to do together.

Hot girl walks are all the rage, so encourage the women in your life to feel their best by taking care of their bodies and well-being. Taking a hike or enjoying a nature walk is a great way to increase your physical and mental health -- and you can look great while doing it!
Treating yourself while supporting women is easier than you think. There are a ton of amazing woman-owned businesses, restaurants and online shops that you can buy from to show you care about the cause.
It’s one thing to show your appreciation, but how about wearing it? The official colors of International Women’s Day are purple, green and white, so wearing any combination of those colors is a perfect way to say you’re proud to support women and girls. Maybe even snack on a few purple wrapped HERSHEY'S KISSES SPECIAL DARK Mildly Sweet Chocolate Candies or ROLO® Dark Salted Caramel in Rich Dark Chocolate Candies.
There are a lot of women-supporting non-profits and organizations out there that need your help. Whether you want to be hands-on by volunteering your time or just want to donate, both are helpful and impactful for women in need. The Hershey Company supports Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization that helps girls in 3rd to 8th grades by strengthening their social, emotional and physical skills and activating their limitless potential. You can get involved and help girls in your community.
When you have some downtime, it’s important to learn about the history of influential women and women’s rights. Watch a documentary, read a book or listen to a podcast to keep yourself informed on women’s history and women’s rights issues such as gender equality and pay gaps. If you’d like to get more involved in making a difference for the future of girls, the United Nations recommends participating in campaigns, raising your voice on social media platforms and making donations.
A fun way to show off the women and girls that you love is to post about them! Take pictures with all your female heroes and spotlight them on your socials to let them and your followers know how much you appreciate them. Make sure you tag #HersheysSHE so we can see how you celebrate!
One of our favorite women to recognize on International Women’s Day is Catherine “Kitty” Hershey. Kitty was a great influence on Milton Hershey’s philanthropy efforts and convinced him to start the Milton Hershey School, which has continued to help young people every day since. She made it her mission in life to give back to her communities with charitable gifts and donations and she was well-known for her graciousness.Women have always had a very important role at The Hershey Company. So much so, we are one of the very few Fortune 500 companies with a female CEO and over 50% of all our employees are women. The Hershey Company was recently ranked as one of the World’s Top Female Friendly Companies by Forbes. Girl power!
The globally celebrated holiday falls every year on March 8.
International Women’s Day is a celebration that recognizes the incredible achievements of women and girls around the world and brings awareness to gaps in women’s rights.
The theme for the 2024 holiday is "Inspire Inclusion.” This theme explores how valuing women's inclusion makes the world a better place, and when women strive to be included, they forge a sense of belonging and empowerment.
Of course! One of the key elements of International Women’s Day is to bring awareness to gender inequalities in the world. That means we include and acknowledge all the experiences and achievements of marginalized groups, such as genderqueer and transgender individuals.
If you’re looking for even more ways to celebrate women and girls everywhere during International Women’s Day, check out our HERSHEY'S SHE page. You can also play a game of Women’s History Month Bingo that’s fun and informative for the whole family!
Empowered women empower women. Keep your girls confident in themselves by taking the time to do a few of these activities during International Women’s Day and let them see how much you appreciate all they do.
